If you’ve been watching the Winnipeg Goldeyes games on Shaw TV this season, you have no doubt seen the big The Huddle Magazine and thehuddle.co outfield sign at Shaw Park.
Located behind the Goldeyes bullpen, the sign has been a regular on the Shaw TV telecasts of Safeway Goldeyes Baseball. In fact, it’s probably been seen by more people throughout Manitoba this baseball season than any other sign at Winnipeg’s downtown ballpark.
According to Football Manitoba executive director, Ron East, the sign is another example of the great relationship Football Manitoba has developed with Winnipeg’s professional sports teams.
“Because of our great partnerships with the professional sports teams in our province, we have been able to cross-promote the love we all have for our amateur sports programs in the province,” East said during the 2013 Red River Cup tournament. “The Goldeyes have been tremendous partners for Football Manitoba over the past number of years and we’re proud to be part, in a small way, of their 20th Anniversary Celebrations in 2013.”
East believes that both the professional teams and amateur organizations can work hand-in-hand to bring more recognition to the young people who play sports simply for the love of participation.
“Football Manitoba looks forward to our on-going partnerships with the Blue Bombers and Goldeyes and hopefully one day with the Winnipeg Jets for the support and benefit of amateur sport at every level,” East said. “The Huddle sign at Shaw Park is just one example of how we’ve been able to make that happen.”
The latest edition of The Huddle Magazine can be picked up at the Football Manitoba office at 145 Pacific Ave. in Winnipeg. But be sure to pick one up soon. There aren’t many left.
